Feltham Station

Feltham railway station, located on the busy Wessex route into London Waterloo, has been undergoing works to improve its passenger experience, including extended platforms, upgraded signalling and a new pedestrian and cycle bridge.

The pedestrian and cycle bridge improvements were particularly important for ensuring improved passenger accessibility as well as providing a bike-friendly route to access the newly positioned bus stops and step-free access to one of the platforms. Having successfully completed previous work for Network Rail contractors to a high standard, Kite Glass was selected as the favoured glass supplier for the bridge modernisation.

We have supplied a total of 28 panels (90.99m2) of 20.89mm toughened laminated glass, comprising of: 10mm clear satin Matelux® toughened glass on one side, 10mm clear toughened on the other, with a 0.89mm SentryGlas® interlayer. Panels were then CNC polished, heat-soaked, shaped and had fixation holes drilled.

Due to the station being a central connection for those travelling in and out of London, Kite Glass had to arrange for a special delivery to be made to site at 2AM on a Sunday morning. The panels were individually banded to allow for a crane to lift them into place upon arrival.
