Fosse Park is a well-known, out-of-town shopping park in the Leicester area. Since April 2019, it has been undergoing a £168m extension development, which has added 140,000sq ft of retail space to the existing site. The Fosse Park West & Food Central developments are managed by The Crown Estate and were developed in partnership with local contractors Bowmer + Kirkland, who were involved in the original development over thirty years ago.
Within this revitalisation project, the public areas across Fosse Park were also redesigned to echo the site’s historical background as a brewery and integrate it into the Soar Valley landscape. Reflecting on The Crown Estate’s commitment to reach Net Zero by 2030, this extension also included 5,000m2 of planted areas, including green walls, hedgerows, trees, insect hotels and wildflower meadows.
To help bring the outside in, Kite Glass was awarded the contract to supply a total of 220m2 of standard and low iron heat-soaked, laminated glass panels for the entrance atrium and internal facades. We have produced and delivered the panels with the following breakdown:
Due to the existing government restrictions, the new development was launched on April 12th 2021, in line with the national reopening of non-essential retail.
